Downloading a File Directly to Your Mainframe


Here are the instructions to download a file from HostBridge to your mainframe via FTP:

  1. Supply the host name of support.hostbridge.com
  2. Logon with a user id of anonymous and a password of 'your email address' in the format me@mydomain.com
  3. Issue the command cd /download
  4. Issue the command bin (upload of data in binary format)
  5. Issue the command locsite lrecl=80 recfm=fb cyl pri=90 (this defines the DCB and space information for the target dataset on the mainframe)
  6. Issue the command get FILE_NAME.GIVEN.TO.YOU.BY.SUPPORT 'YOUR.HOST.FILE.NAME', where FILE_NAME.GIVEN.TO.YOU.BY.SUPPORT is the name of the file on the HostBridge FTP site that you are downloading (this will be supplied to you by HostBridge Support), and YOUR.HOST.FILE.NAME is the data set name of the target dataset on the mainframe that you are downloading the file into
  7. Issue the command quit
